Lordosis Correction Recovery

Corrective alignment program for excessive inward curvature of the lower spine (swayback).

Lordosis Correction Treatment

Condition Overview

Lordosis, also known as swayback, is an exaggerated inward curve of the lower back (lumbar spine). It can cause a prominent buttocks look, lower back strain, and pelvic instability, and is highly responsive to muscular retraining.

Why It Happens

A primary driver of lordosis is a muscle imbalance called "lower crossed syndrome". Sitting too much causes tight hip flexors (iliopsoas). These tight muscles pull the front of the pelvis down, while weak abs fail to pull the pelvis up. This rotates the pelvis forward (anterior pelvic tilt), forcing the lower spine to arch excessively to keep you upright.

Common Symptoms

  • Exaggerated arch in the lower back (spine curves in sharply)
  • Prominent belly and buttocks look even with low body fat
  • Lower back fatigue and pain when standing for long periods
  • Difficulty lying flat on the back without a large gap under the lumbar spine

Root Causes

  • Tight hip flexor muscles and weak glutes/hamstrings (anterior pelvic tilt)
  • Weak abdominal muscles failing to support the pelvis
  • Excess weight in the abdomen putting forward pull on the spine
  • Congenital spinal conditions

Our Treatment Process

Holistic rehab integrated with yoga therapy

Estimated Recovery8 to 12 sessions over 4 to 6 weeks.
1

Deep stretching of the hip flexors and lower back extensors

2

Activation and strengthening of the gluteus maximus and hamstrings

3

Core stabilization targeting the deep transversus abdominis muscle

4

Pelvic tilt awareness training and spinal alignment yoga

Expected Outcomes

Visible reductions in lumbar curvature and pelvic tilt are observed within 6 sessions, accompanied by a major decrease in lower back standing fatigue.

Key Benefits of Our Treatment

Reduced lower back strain and standing-induced fatigue
Improved core and pelvic stability
Better aesthetic body silhouette and flatter looking stomach
Restored pelvic balance and knee/hip alignment

Frequently Asked Questions

Is swayback harmful long term?

Yes, if left uncorrected, the excessive arching places high stress on the facet joints of the lower spine, leading to early osteoarthritis, disc compression, and chronic nerve irritation.

Dr. Recommendation

PHD Qualified Specialist

"Non-invasive treatment combined with customized rehabilitation and core alignment is key to long-term stability and permanent relief."

Health Advice:
  • Perform pelvic tilt exercises daily (flattening your back against the floor).
  • Avoid high heels, which push the center of gravity forward and worsen the lumbar arch.
  • Stretch your hip flexors after long periods of sitting.

Patient Success Story

"I had bad lower back pain when standing at events. Correcting my swayback and building glute strength completely eliminated the pain. I stand tall and comfortable now."
